Bigert and Bergstrom have been invited and are now starting collaboration with LesYperYper in Thessaloniki. Initially three films are going to be screened that deal with the humankind’s existential topics. The 3 documentary films are produced in a strong artistic way. All the films are each 56 minutes long.

Last supper a historical and up to date presentation on the tradition of giving a last meal before an execution.

Life Extended a film about how humans in all time have been trying to be immortal.

Weather War a film that deals with human beings effort to take control over the climate and the weather from a personal and political perspective. From the ancient times with weather gods to today’s geoengineering .

All films have been shown in film festivals, art biennales and television channels around the world.

Nicola Ratti

Nicola Ratti lives and works in Milan. The use of sound and its almost craftmanship creation pushes his own
music research to get through electroacoustic compositions, melodic-rhythmic patterns and nearby an area
that could be easily placed between music concrete and minimal techno with a generous use of improvisation.
Today, alongside his solo career, with discs produced by Anticipate (U.S.), Preservation (AU), Megaplomb (IT),
Die Schachtel (IT) and concerts in Europe and North America, he works on valuable collaborations such as the
soundtrack-band Ronin where he plays guitar since 2006, the duo “Bellows” with Giuseppe Ielasi with whom
he shares a radical sound research and the duo FaravelliRatti with Attila Faravelli in which the guitar loses its
horizons in the colleague’s world of prepared speakers. With them he has produced several records for Italian
and foreign labels.
He’s also, with Fatima Bianchi, the co-founder of FeN Bureau, an art entity for the production of video and sound installations.
Nicola Ratti works as an architect in Gru Architetti, a multidisciplinary team based in Milan, he runs the art/installation branch of the office”

Giovanni Lami

Giovanni Lami (Palustre records, Impulsive Habitat, Fratto9 Under the Sky, Felt, Crónica) is a field recordist and musician from Ravenna, with a background in photography, now working within the soundscape and sound ecology boundaries. His experience with large format cameras proved instrumental when conducting his sonic explorations on location. Beside his solo work he is currently involved in a number of collaborative projects including Lĕmŭres (with Enrico Coniglio) and Terrapin (with Shaun McAlpine).

Ο Martial Canterel επισκέπτεται για πρώτη φορά τη Θεσσαλονίκη, για μια ζωντάνη εμφάνιση στις 27 Απριλίου, προσκεκλημένος των Melotron Productions και Les Yper Yper.

Ο M.C. κατά κόσμον Sean McBride είναι ένας από τους πρόγονους του σύγχρονου αμερικάνικου cold wave / synth pop ιδιώματος. Η μουσική του πορεία ξεκίνα στα μεσα της δεκαετίας του 90 με το προσωπικό του προτζεκτ Moravagine. Μετά απο δεκάδες ζωντανές εμφανίσεις στην ευρύτερη περιοχή της Νέας Υόρκης και έχοντας ήδη κυκλοφορήσει μια πληθώρα ντέμο κασσετών, το 2002 καταλήγει στο Martial Canterel, ,με το οποίο συνεχίζει εώς σήμερα.

Η επιρρόη που έχει ασκήσει ο “ήχος” του McBride είναι εμφάνης στο μεγαλύτερο σύνολο των σχημάτων που ηχογραφούν για την Weird Recordings (Led Er Est, Xeno & Oaklander κλπ). Με μία ιδιαίτερη και σχεδόν αμίμητη minimal-synth προσέγγιση -αποκλειστικά με αναλογικό εξοπλισμό- και με στίχους οι οποίοι υπερθεματίζουν τα θετικά και τα αρνητικά του δυτικού τρόπου ζωής, δημιουργεί λαμπρές μελωδικές γραμμές με industrial αισθητική με αποτέλεσμα τα δύο τελευταία του άλμπουμ (Empire και You today) να λάβουν κολακευτικά σχόλια από το μεγαλύτερο σύνολο του μουσικού τύπου.

Εκτός απο την πληθώρα προσωπικών κυκλοφοριών με διάφορα ονόματα σε αρκέτες ανεξάρτητες δισκογραφικές εταιρείες έχει να επιδείξει πολλές συνεργασίες με καλλιτέχνες όπως Attrition,Extrawelt,Alan Fischer (Hula, Cabaret Voltaire),Spies, The Weathermen και με δισκογραφικές εταιρείες οπως η Mute,Poeta Negra, Traum Schallplatten, Cleopatra κ.α.
Από τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 90 η παρουσία του στα συναυλιακά δρώμενα ήταν “διακριτική“ με σημειωτέες εξαιρέσεις τις εμφανίσεις του με τον G.Bandoek στα φεστιβάλ Sync και Reworks και με τους Kris Kylven (UX, EoN Project, Killing Joke) & Mike McGuire (Juno Reactor) στο Μύλο.
Οι αναφορές στους Skinny Puppy, Front242, Portion Control, Kraftwerk και ClockDVA είναι συχνές και η αισθητική των PKD, W.Gibson, N.Spinrad, J.G.Ballard εμφανής εώς καθοριστικη.

Οι EVENTLESS PLOT είναι ένα τριμελές σχήμα με έδρα τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Δανειζόμενοι στοιχεία από διάφορα μουσικά είδη και αισθητικές αναφορές προσπαθούν να χτίσουν το δικό τους υβριδικό ήχο. Από τον ελεύθερο αυτοσχεδιασμό και το θόρυβο μέχρι την ηλεκτροακουστική σύνθεση ,την jazz και διάφορους μετα – ηλεκτρονικούς πειραματισμούς, η μουσική των e.p παραμένει πάντα αντισυμβατική και σύγχρονη.

Διάφορες αναλογικές πηγές, synthesizers, παράξενα η όχι φυσικά όργανα και ηχογραφήσεις πεδίου μεταλλάσσονται ψηφιακά με τη βοήθεια προγραμμάτων Μax/Μsp.

Οι Eventless Plot έχουν κυκλοφορήσει συνθέσεις σε διάφορες εταιρίες και συλλογές με πιo σημαντικές έως τώρα τις ολοκληρωμένες δουλειές τους ikon (2009) στην granny records και Recon (2012) στην Aural Terrains, έχουν σχεδιάσει τον ήχο σε εγκαταστάσεις τέχνης και φιλμ και έχουν μοιραστεί τη σκηνή με καλλιτέχνες όπως ο Giuseppe Ielasi , Vladislav Delay ,Good luck mr. Gorsky σε σημαντικούς χώρους και διοργανώσεις (facta non verba, Synch Festival, Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογραφου Θεσσαλονίκης και άλλα).
Κάπου μεταξύ Θεσσαλονίκης και Χάγης, τα μέλη των Eventless Plot κάνουν έρευνα πάνω στην ηλεκτρονική μουσική και την ηλεκτροακουστική σύνθεση, σεμινάρια αυτοσχεδιασμού με καλλιτέχνες οπως Richard Barrett, Peter Evans, Evan Parker και επεκτείνουν τις αναφορές τους ψάχνοντας διαρκώς νέες ηχητικές φόρμες και πηγές.

have worked together and in different formations in a number of collaborative projects, recordings and performances in UK and abroad.
Their improvisations are based on spectral confluences and collisions disclosing the intimate and transfigural forces of sonic matter.

Thanos Chrysakis’ output consists of composition, performance, and installation.

He was born in Athens in 1971, residing in the UK since 1998. He has also received airplay -among others- by RAI radio 3, BBC radio 3, Radio Portugal Antenna 2, Radio Nacional de España, FM Brussel, Polskie Radio (Warsaw), Elektramusic (Strasbourg), Undae! Radio (Madrid) and Onda SonoraRadio Circulo de Bellas Artes (CBA) (Madrid).

His work was amongst the selected works at the International Competition de Musique et d’Art Sonore Electroacoustiques de Bourges 2005, in the category œuvre d’art sonore électroacoustique, while received an honorary mention in 2006 at the 7th International Electroacoustic Competition Musica Viva in Lisbon.
He has recorded/performed with a number of improvisers including among others Wade Matthews, Dario Bernal-Villegas, Jerry Wigens, James O’Sullivan, Philip Somervell, Jamie Coleman, Chris Cundy, Zsolt Sőrés, Sebastian Lexer, Artur Vidal. Furthermore, he has also closely collaborated with the visual artists Pascal Dombis and Villő Turcsány.

Since 2007 he operates the record-label Aural Terrains focusing in electroacoustics, composed and improvised music.

Chris Cundy is an English musician and arranger specialising in bass clarinet, saxophones and other woodwinds.

He has worked with such artists as Cold Specks, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Fyfe Dangerfield, Guillemots, Little Annie and Baby Dee.

His work ranges from improvisation and experimental music through to modern composition and pop music. He has also recorded under his own name and has released records with his band Gannets.

Chris grew up in close proximity to the river Medway in Kent and was drawn into the local garage rock scene at a very young age, becoming acquainted with many characters there including Billy Childish – musician, painter, poet and founder of independent record label Hangman Records with whom he briefly shared a house as a child.

It was from these early DIY beginnings that Chris first took to improvising, starting out as a street busker at 15 and playing alto saxophone. This is an occupation he still occasionally pursues. After hearing the Eric Dolphy Memorial Album Chris soon decided to take up the bass clarinet and he has gone on to study contrabass clarinet, as well as soprano, tenor and baritone saxophones. He is self-taught.

Between 1996 and 1999 Chris studied painting at Cheltenham art college and during this time he more fully expanded his practice of improvised music, sometimes referred to as ‘free music’ out of which various projects have emerged such as his trio Weavels which features bassoonist Mick Beck and guitarist, clarinettist Alex Ward. He has also established several collaborations into experimental composition developing the use of ‘extended techniques’ such as multi-phonics, circular breathing, micro harmonics and generally speaking a more tactile approach to instrumentation. He has worked with a number of composers and educators in this field including John Tilbury and Thanos Chrysakis. During his time at Cheltenham he also met songwriter and orchestrator Fyfe Dangerfield with whom he has worked on many different occasions including as a touring and recording artist in his band Guillemots.

More recently Chris has been working with doom-soul band Cold Specks, appearing at Canada’s Polaris Music Prize ceremony in 2012, for which their debut album ‘I Predict A Graceful Expulsion’ was short-listed.

James OSullivan is a Londonbased electric guitar player.

He has performed in numerous groupings of musicians, many of whom he met through Eddie Prevost‘s weekly improvisational workshop. In addition, he is the founder, alongside longtime friend and collaborator David Hurn, of Four Seasons Television, which explores the relationship between improvisation, composition, recording and performance.

His activities span the two poles from free improvisation to more ‘composedsong forms, and he has collaborated with songwriters, improvisers, improvising songwriters and other permutations of these elements in an attempt to unpack ideas of terms such as ‘free‘, ‘composed‘, ‘technique‘, ‘melody‘, ‘noise‘, ‘rhythm‘ and ‘improvise‘.

He performs also with the groups Found Drowned and Syneuma.


Les Yper Yper present “Efterklang – The Ghost of Piramida“, a music documentary by Andreas Koefoed.

Following the release of their 4th album “Piramida” (Sep 2012, 4AD), Efterklang add another string to their bow with The Ghost of Piramida, a film by
Danish director Andreas Koefoed, that documents the Danish trio’s visit to
the abandoned Russian mining town where the record’s inception began back in the summer of 2011.

The Ghost of Piramida premiered in November 2012 in Amsterdam at the world’s biggest
documentary film festival IDFA, and the film was selected as one of the top three music films of the year.
Since then, the film has been screened at several other film festivals and in art house cinemas around Europe.

Κ’ αν έχει μεταχειρισθεί o ηλεκτρονικός τύπος, ιδιώματα και χαρακτηρισμούς για να περιγράψει τη μουσική του – haunt, witch, dark ambient, experimental, electronic, dark pop, what the fuck, ο ίδιος ωστόσο φαίνεται να απολαμβάνει την άνεση που προσφέρει η ψυχεδέλια, διανθισμένη με το Nabokovικό haiku «Like an acrobat working with a net but suddenly noticing that in reality there is no net».
Ensemble Economique δεν είναι παρά ένα ειρωνικό ευφυολόγημα που ενεδύθη ο αινιγματικός, κύριος Brian Pyle για να δώσει σάρκα και οστά στην ευκαιριακή, πλην σταθερή και άκρως παραγωγική αποδήμηση του από το μαγευτικό κόσμο των Starving Weirdos με τους οποίους εξακολουθεί να παράγει κομψοτεχνήματα από το 1999· ενδεικτικό, το τελευταίο δισκογραφικό τους πόνημα, Land Lines (2012).
Τόπος καταγωγής και ταυτόχρονα μίτος της Αριάδνης που αποκωδικοποιεί καλειδοσκοπικά το μουσικό του σύμπαν, το Humboldt της βόρειας Καλιφόρνια, τόπος δραματικά άγριας ομορφιάς. Απομονωμένος από τον mainstream δυτικό πολιτισμό και μέλος μας ημιπαράνομης, μποέμικης κοινότητας, μεταβολίζει τη δωρεά τη πατρογονικής του φύσης οπλισμένος με 80’s synths, drums loops, drones και μπόλικο επεξεργασμένο θόρυβο, σε σαγηνευτικά σκοτεινά, κλειστοφοβικά ηχοτόπια που αναπαριστούν σχεδόν κινηματογραφικά τις πιο μύχιες περιπλανήσεις στο συναισθηματικό του κόσμο στο αιώνιο κυνήγι της αυτοκάθαρσης.
Σε μόλις 5 χρόνια ζωής μετρά εκτός από τα αριστουργηματικά ‘Psychical’ & “Crossing The Pass By Torchlight’, δέκα συνολικά κυκλοφορίες – οι τρεις θα κυκλοφορήσουν με την αυγή του 2013, lps, eps και split albums με καλλιτέχνες όπως Lee Noble, Dubai, Ela Orleans, Heroin in Tahiti και υπογραφές σε εταιρείες σημεία αναφοράς της σύγχρονης μουσικής, Digitalis, Amish, Not Not Fun, Dekorder, Clan Destine, Denovali records.

O James Blackshaw – μόνιμος κάτοικος του Hastings της Μεγαλης Βρεταννίας- γεννήθηκε το 1981 και το κύριο μουσικό του όργανο είναι η δωδεκάχορδη ακουστική κιθάρα. Έχει ήδη κυκλοφορήσει εννιά άλμπουμ σε σημαντικές ανεξάρτητες δισκογραφικές εταιρείες μεταξύ αυτών η Young Gοd Records και η Important Records. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι την τελευταία φορά που επισκέφθηκε την χώρα μας ήταν μέλος του σχήματος των Current 93 και από τότε έχει περιοδεύσει ως opening act με τους Swans.
Παρόλη τη σχετικά μικρή του ηλικία έχει ήδη καθιερωθεί ως ένας από τους πιο βιρτουόζους σύγχρονους κιθαρίστες. Les Yper Yper proudly presents the Valtari film experiment by Sigur Rós.

On the 8th of December, LYY joins select venues and spaces on all seven continents, to present the “valtari film experiment”, a two-hour program of at least 17 commissioned “official” and fan-created short films, created to coincide with the album Valtari.

Upon the release of their album Valtari, Sigur Rós gave a dozen filmmakers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever comes into their head when they listen to songs from the album.

The idea was to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom. Among the filmmakers are Alma Har’el, Andrea Arnold, and Floria Sigismondi. At the same time, the band invited fans to contribute their own personal creations.
